Keep Update 12/19/2012

It has been a while since the last update so I figured its time for me to post my first keep update.

Code editors
The code editor have been busy and there have been some big breakthroughs. Kingpin has made life a bit easier for 1.13 patch coders with he's release of a Rebased Storm.dll for 1.13c. The Rebased Storm.dll takes care of the overlapping memory space between d2game.dll and storm.dll saving you from excessive headaches while debugging. Download the rebased storm dll for 1.13c here

New D2mod plugins
kidpaddle94 has released 2 plugins, the first one is named D2ItemSpell and it allows you to cast a skill from an item using a new pspell, the second plugin allows you to warp to another area using a pspell, both the plugins need a little bit of testing before their included in the filecenter so if you wish to speed up the process visit this topic and try them out.

The following plugins fall have been on modmakers Christmas wish lists for ages. Several code editors have researched and posted bits and pieces of code on the forums over the years, but nobody ever got around to putting everything in to d2modplugins, until now dav92 has released lots of plugins, starting with a d2mod plugin that allows modmakers to increase the resolution in their mods this plugin can be downloaded here. The second mayor release by dav92 is D2NPCs, this plugin enables us to add new npcs to our mods, download D2npcs here. The final one im going to mention is my favourite, this plugin enable modmakers to add real new towns to the game an thus its named D2Towns get it here. In combination with the exdended levels plugin and davs npx and town plugin we now have much more freedom when it comes to expanding the game. You can read all about dav's new plugins in this topic

Mod release
I have released a pre beta version of my d2scrabble mod version 6.
Since 2003 me and onyx have attempted to make a futuristic or modern day themed mod but all our attempts have failed doe to various factors such as real life and other things that constantly get in the way for d2modmakers. Not willing to let the idea go i began expanding act4 with a modern day city enviroment, naturally i asked onyx to join as a mapper and it was no big surprise that he agreed. The modern city is a blend of our tile and map work.
You can see some results in this video
You can download the mod here but before you do check out the site and forums

That concludes this update but im sure several releases and other update work material has been missed. You can contact me by pm to make sure your latest release makes it to the next update, also feel free to send me a message if you have a file that never got added to our filecenter.

On behalf of the entire staff we wish everyone in the community a peaceful Christmas.

Keep Update 06/27/2011

The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. ~Mark Twain

Former senior administrator of the Phrozen Keep Myhrginoc liked to use this quote and I'm borrowing it now, because it describes best the current state of things here. The site might seem dormant with no updates posted on the main page for long periods of time, but rest assured - a lot is going on in the forums. The community is alive, people are still making mods and tools and new users are registering every day. So join the Phrozen Keep and learn how to make your first mod already! :)

Now, on to the actual news:

:typing: LET THE GAMES BEGIN
User Seltsamuel provided us with a good way to manage all our installed mods and Diablo 2 versions. I present to you D2SE - a version-independent mod manager program which allows you to switch quickly between your mods and closed Bnet without having to manually copy and backup files. And you can play any mod you like regardless of the version of D2 LoD you have. All you have to do is follow the instructions here and install the program, then add any mod you want. You'll find the main download, as well as a number of mods in the new category we've opened in our File Center. Note that additional mods are going to continue to be added, so make sure you visit often! :)

:samurai: SLICE'N'DICE
A new and relatively simple mod was submitted to us by GalaXyHaXz. It's called SLASH (Semi-Legit And Semi-Hack) and it works on v1.13c. Don't be confused by the word 'hack' - there is nothing to be considered a hack in the mod, and only GalaXyHaXz knows why he decided to name it this. You can download the mod here and post feedback in this thread.

:rocker: O-MEGA
As usual, Brother Laz means business. After numerous versions and patches of Median XL, now a new generation of his highly-successful mod was born - Median XL Omega. It's already up to version 002 and features many changes and fixes, as to be expected. Go to the official Median site for more information and download links.

This is all for now, see you next time :)

Keep Update 01/02/2011

First update in 2011 and as usual, The Phrozen Keep isn't kind to me in this period. I don't know why, but I always have to do major work on the site during the Christmas/New Year holidays. Anyway, here's what's new this time:

 NO PLACE LIKE HOME
After close to 3 years of service, Volf's external File Center has to be taken down. That's the reason I have been busy building and preparing a new download database for the Phrozen Keep files. The new File Center is based on the old one, with a twist to make it look more like the current version of the Phrozen Keep. It can be visited here. You can find some more information about how to fix broken links in my announcement.

:diabolic: IMMERSION RETURNS
Demon9ne gave us a new version of his mod Immersion just as 2010 was slipping out the door. The new release, titled v1.05 Beta, requires a registration on the mod's official site to download, that's why it won't be added to the File Center at this time. Click here for the announcement of the new release by Demon9ne.

 BROKEN PROMISES
A while ago I've promised that I'll do everything possible to announce and mirror everyone's new releases. Well, I didn't manage to keep this promise. It was a tough year for me to say the least, so I didn't have enough time. In addition, the File Center switch has prevented me from adding new files for some time. My apologies go out to Yohann, SheX, Sheer_Cold, Evilpanda, sw33tsp0t1, kambala and everyone else who released something, but it went unannounced. Please, head to the Member Announcements forum and check their threads - their mods are worth playing, I'm sure of that.

This concludes the update. It's not much, but at least it's something. See you next time - I hope it will be soon enough! :)
