ds1edit : working / not working |
Ok, I won't make this a poll because I need some words of you. Can all the persons who have tried my ds1edit post here a message with the configuration they tried and the result they have ? I just want to have a general overview, because right now I'm lost : it works for some person but not for another with almost the same configuration... Also if someone have some tips to make it works, he can put them here. I'll start.
Pentium 120, w98, 32 MB, serial mouse : fine, except that some ds1 can't be opened because of the lack of memory.
Pentium 166 mmx, w98, 128 MB, nvidia tnt2, serial mouse : perfect (normal since I have developed the prog on it )

Dell Dimension 8200 1.8GHz P4, 512MB RAM, Windows XP Home, nVidia ti4600 - switches to full screen, stays black, hangs, Alt-Tab recovers. No log message generated that I have found, I'll look again.

Okay, I found a different error. This seems to happen so far in Tristram map. Basically, I try to change one tile, and it works. I change a second one, and as I'm scrolling down all the way, I get this error:

It seems that noone can get it to work with Win 2000, and some people have problems with XP but other's don't. (?)
Question to people who it doesn't work with XP: Is your logon an admin? :/

Yes. That's a requirement to install (and run?) LoD anyway.

Yes. Says it right on the box, for Windows 2000 and XP both, you need admin rights. I don't share my XP machine, so I don't know if I can play the game without admin logon now that it is installed.

As it seems, I also won't be able to use this one.
AMD Athlon 1.1 Ghz
256 DDR333 Ram
Win2k Adv. Server Service Pack 2
(ERROR: Vesa Not Available). Mainly due to the lack of DOS-based support within the Windows NT-based Architecture.

Did you try to press Alt + Enter when the window appear ? Try also to go in ms-dos 32 bits console, by launching "cmd" (not "command"), and go into fullscreen before launching the . bat. That *may* work.

Perhaps you don't have enough conventional memory?
