Yup, certainly because of your Ram. With my P120 and 32 MB I could hardly edit more than tristram and Duriel. harogath is uneditable. But I can make easily a little more free ram by a trick : near all the tiles have at least 32 transparent lines, so I can reduce the size of each block, and they are many. I'll include that as an option in the .ini in the next version maybe.

What version are you using, ds1edit.zip or win_ds1edit.zip ? Did you delete the .bin that are in the data\tmp directory? What do you mean by a big blurry purple blob, is it "just" a palette/colormap problem or does the prog can't initialize the screen at all? Does it only happen when you use the new "Night" mode...
Try to be more accurate, and I should be able to tell you where the problem is. For now, I think this is a data\tmp\*.bin problems : I have changed the palettes & colormap method since the last zip so you have to delete your old ones before launching it (as I said in the ds1edit post).
If you need (and can), send me a screenshot of what you have, that too can be usefull.

sorry, big purple blob as in i can still see a little white blob moving behind it (the cursor) and when i click on something it changes colors (not the purple blob but the multicolored blobs (tiles) behind the purple blob) so i thiunk it is a palette problem, i just dont understand it cuz it used to work fine. im not using the win_ds1edit.zip, just ds1edit.zip. i dont use night mode either, i cant find it lol, the purple blurry blob comes up right when i open it. ill send a screenshot in a sec

Just a question - how can you have Win_DS1Edit edit other maps like Rogue Encampment, Lut Gholein, etc.? Thanks.

Pentium II MMX 350 MHz, 64 Mb RAM, ATI Xpert98, Windows 98, PS2 mouse: works
A friend of mine got a problem with ds1edit (since his English is poor, I´m asking instead of him ).
Whenever he starts it, he gets the following error: (I think it was when opening Tristram, but happened in others as well, program always stopped when loading those pcxs)
load ds1edit.ini
read gamma correction table (Data\gamma.dat)

I noticed that Apocalypse Demon had a similar problem with Tristram, perhaps it´s caused by the same bug

Eldon, that machine is below the minimum specs for Diablo II in the first place. Congratulations on getting anywhere at all!

You should have a "debug_tristram.txt" or something like that, can you send it to me ? That might help.

hehehe...I feel silly...
I had a HD crash on 1 system, so I moved my secondary over...Allegro was in C:\Windows\system...oops!
So...I may have the solution. Btw, I run Win98, osr2.
Oh...I'm a bit of a tech...and I do know how to run a clean system...(not that I really do, but I've cleaned out the startup in msconfig. ) I get freezes...but...I've run every mod I wanted to!
Btw...not only do I lack speed...the PPro is missing MMX.
